What exactly is the Prayer Apostolate ?

The Prayer Apostolate is a community of broken but sincere brothers and sisters in Christ who are willing to pray for the needs of others. It is an "everyman's prayer warrior club" for ordinary Christians ! This willingness to pray for the needs of others must have its roots in the belief that each human being, regardless of his/her race, creed or colour, regardless of how wretched or miserable that person is...each person is truly beloved by God, Who calls us to pray for the needs of that person, out of love for Him and His Kingdom, rather than out of any self gratification.(back to top)

Who can join the Prayer Apostolate ?

The Prayer Apostolate was originally aimed primarily at believing, practising Roman Catholics but is very much open to all men and women who are willing to pray, in the name of Jesus, for their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. This a totally free service with no exchange of money whatsoever. Members decide what prayers they wish to offer and then post their pledge on this site. They do not necessarily have to read the prayer petitions every day on this site before praying. It is sufficient to consciously place those intentions in spirit before the Lord at time of praying. However it is preferable that members do read the prayer petitions where possible.(back to top)

What are the structures of the Prayer Apostolate ?

The Prayer Apostolate has no structures as such. Each new member simply pledges daily/weekly prayer for the needs of others, in the privacy of his/her own home, in the church..or wherever suits. The amount of time spent on this prayer and the type of prayers offered are entirely a matter for each individual person to consider carefully before posting their pledge on this site. There are no proceedures and no sanctions against any person who fails to live up to his/her pledge...it is entirely a matter between them and God. Members are free to join or leave at any time, or indeed change the nature of their pledge.(back to top)

What prayers are involved ?

No particular or specific prayers are required of any member, although we do offer a model How To Pray which we explain elsewhere, and recommend to any member who feels called to follow it. It is a matter for each person to choose a prayer style and a prayer type which fits in comfortably with their lifestyle. One person may choose to offer fleeting mental aspirations many times during a busy day; another may pledge a rosary or a Mass; another may offer up their physical, mental or emotional suffering; another may offer up the drudgery of their daily tasks in life; another may undertake to abstain from something which they like, another may undertake to sing a hymn of praise to the Lord each day. The possibilities are endless. Just pray to be guided and you will be led to the pledge that best suits your particular circumstances. We do ask, however, that all members of the Prayer Apostolate unite in offering their prayers to The Father in the name of Jesus and that all graces be granted through the intercession of our late Holy Father, Pope John Paul 2, under whose patronage and protection this Apostolate is placed.  No person should make a pledge which becomes a burden for him/her. Remember the words of Jesus " Learn from Me for My yoke is easy and My burden is light." The important thing to remember is that One act of pure love is worth a thousand sacrifices.(back to top)

Is there any particular time to pray ?

Members of the Prayer Apostolate are not required to offer their prayer at any particular time. That is a matter of their own choosing according to the circumstances of their situation. However, for those who particularly wish to be in full communion with their brothers and sisters of the Prayer Apostolate we recommend The Hour of Divine Mercy..3pm, the hour at which Jesus died; the hour at which His Mercy and Love poured out on poor sad humanity.(back to top)

Why should I join ?

Simply read the "List of Requests" on this site and you will find the answer.(back to top)

What if I miss out on my pledge ?

If you regularly and consistently miss out on your pledge to the Prayer Apostolate, then something is wrong. You need to go before The Lord and be led by His Spirit to either come out of the Prayer Apostolate altogether or renew your pledge with a new fervour or change the nature of your pledge. If, however, you occasionally miss out on your pledge, for whatever reason, you are not to worry. Go before The Lord with childlike humility, accepting with serenity your limitations and failings. This will be even more pleasing to Him than your original pledge. Above all you are not to be disgusted with or annoyed with yourself...this is a false righteousness rooted in self and a failure to accept in humility your own wretchedness. (back to top)

How do I join ?
